The need to shift from the menstrual ‘hygiene’ narrative to the larger ambit of holistic menstrual ‘health’ is pressing. In a time when medical gaslighting is rampant and medicines are prescribed with little to no information on side effects, it is critical to understand the symptoms and ramifications of various menstrual disorders. And this is just the place to begin!
Our widest-reaching workshop model is driven towards building menstrual life skills in a particular community of menstruators (students, for instance) and/or building capacities among allied stakeholders (parents, teachers, school administration) through a Caregivers Module to build adequate support and infrastructure systems for said community.
The Green Period Educator (GPE) is a 3-month program for professionals (young and old, in corporate and non-corporate spaces) who want to facilitate conversations around reusable period products in their offices, in their resident associations, on WhatsApp groups or even social media — basically, anywhere!
Through the course of this program, our GPEs are encouraged to imbibe menstrual life skills, practise the art of facilitation, hold safe spaces, and drive the green period product movement.
Sessions adding up to a total of 20 hours, use film, presentations, books and knowledge-sharing as tools to enable candidates to look at menstruation holistically. We encourage our cohort to execute sessions within their communities throughout the duration of the program and work with them to incorporate feedback and refine their skills further.
Sounds like it’s up your alley? Sign up and we’ll write to you when we’re recruiting the next cohort!
I signed up for the GPE program expecting to attend a workshop on sustainable menstrual products and related issues. But to my surprise GPE endorsed a holistic approach and we were given chances to discuss and understand various aspects of menstruation. Particularly, a session on facilitating a workshop was something that we were really looking forward to. And the most of all, the GPE community that we are a part of now, is a safe and non-judgmental space for us!
